Empreendedorismo Vivo com Tim Crabtree – um convite para ex-alunos

Tim Crabtree – professor de Economia para a Transição no Schumacher College UK – retorna ao Brasil pela segunda vez, dando continuidade a projetos iniciados em 2016 junto com a comunidade Parelheiros-SP. Durante sua sua vinda, será criada uma oportunidade de troca e reflexão voltada para ex-alunos do Schumacher College e da Escola Schumacher Brasil. Durante este encontro, Tim irá compartilhar suas reflexões sobre uma prática empreendedora que emerge localmente ao mesmo tempo que endereçando importantes desafios da nossa atualidade. Confira o convite de Tim para este workshop:

The dominant economic system is broken – we cannot expect increased growth, isolated innovation or new technology to fix the problems we face. How then can we bring the next system into being right now, through our living intra-actions?

Whatever we are drawn to do, such as affordable housing, renewable energy, sustainable food systems or new approaches to education, health and social care, we need to re-imagine the ends of our economic activity – from maximising consumption and profit to growing well-being and community. We also need to re-imagine the way we work to bring about change.

There are so many tools, techniques and programmes available to us – system thinking, Theory U, complexity science, etc. Yet these approaches can become our “master” instead of our “servant”, and we can end up losing ourselves in a process of managing “things” – organisations, people, nature – instead of working live with the meshwork of interactions that we find ourselves immersed in. How do we go back upstream, to re-connect with what concerns us, what inspires us, what motivates us? How do we cultivate attention and responsiveness to what is appearing in the midst of our work together? How can this support respectful and delicate processes when working with others?

From this perspective, we also need to re-think the way we approach land, labour and capital, the 3 classical elements of an economy. How can we bring democracy to the workplace, de-commodify land so that it supports affordable housing, workspace and farming, and re-claim finance so that it acts as our servant not our master? And with the advent of data as a critical element in the modern economy, how do we address the monopolisation of knowledge and information so that it becomes freely available to underpin our work? Unless we address these issues, our efforts to bring about change will struggle to make headway.

SOBRE TIM CRABTREE
Tim é formado em Economia pela Universidade de Oxford e tem se dedicado a “nova economia” por mais de 30 anos. Trabalhou na conceituada organização New Economics Foundation (nef) e fundou diversos empreendimentos sociais e locais, incluindo o Wessex Reinvestment Trust group e o Dorset-based Local Food Links Ltd. É um dos professores responsáveis pelo Mestrado em Economia para a Transição do Schumacher College na Inglaterra, e tem um papel fundamental na relação que o College desenvolve com empreendedorismo e como ampliar as questões da Economia para uma visão da complexidade e atenção plena (mindfulness).
